Attractions
The town of Bastia is classified as the City of Art and History and as such there are a lot of interesting things to see and experience. Probably the most famous of the landmarks is the Citadel, a 14th century fortification from which the town takes its name.

Citadel
Info: Built in a Genoese style, the fortress reflects the Italian influence on the island as well as the imperialist French styles that have been practiced. The views from the citadel of both the sea and the countryside are well worth the climb up the hill for.

Governor’s Palace
Info: Situated on the edge of the citadel, this would once have been the home to the governor of the town, and he would have had a great view of what was going on, especially during the regular military incidents that took place in the area.

Romieu Gardens
Info: Situated on the edge of the citadel, just outside of the main walls of the great fortress, these gardens offer some of the finest surroundings to overlook the town and seascape. The area is popular with both local people and visitors as a place of rest and relaxation away from the hustle and bustle.
